The real home sweet home feeling
About the Bouriane
The north West area of the Lot department has a lot of French/Britisch origins. Many of the villages and towns were founded under British regimes during the 12th and 13th centuries. Nowadays many Britsch immigrate into this area; a more peaceful way to enter this time!! They search and find something close to the the good old Britisch countrsyde, but then with very different climate.
About the climate
First of all the bad news: in the Bouriane it can be much colder than in Great Britain!!! Temperatures can drop as low as minus 15 Celcius in the nights. Hover, the day after you might very well be in the warm sun at 15 degrees above Celcius. We do have an average of about 40 cold and maybe in total 55 miserable days a year. That leaves us with more than 300 days in shorts and shirts!! Many of those 300+ are really hot. In July and August we try to stay out of the sun till late in the evening.
ACCESSABILITY
From England there are regular flights to Bergerac Airport, which is a about an hour and a half. From Paris the motorway A20 crosses the Lot department. In 2010 the new Airport of Souillac-Brives will open. This is at about an hour's drive. Also from Paris there is a regular train connection with Souillac, Gourdon and Cahors in the Lot.
