What to do in and around the Bouriane?
Apart from just enjoying the natural beauty around your home (the rare luxury of doing nothing!!) the region offers a lot of things to do.
The rivers Dordogne and Lot are nearby. You can make canoe and boating trips, swim and fish in the clear waters. There a several smaller streams in the area, amongst which quite a few trout streams.
Just driving through the area is a bit like being in a drive-in-museum. The roads are very quiet and the undulating landscape offers surprise after surprise. However, there are also real museums, like the Zadkine museum in Les Arques with many sculptures and paintings of this well-known artist. Several other museums focus at things like vintage tractors and cars, painting and the like.
During the warm and hot seasons (about nine months!!) each village has its yearly festival. Rural parties, meals under the stars and dancing to traditional music.
For long walks or bicycle tours (organized or not) the area offers many challenges. Several equestrian centers provide all sorts of horse-riding activities.
The towns of Gourdon and Cahors are at half an hours drive.
Famous tourist attractions like Rocamadour and Sarlat at within an hour''s drive.
Golfers can play at about 5 beautiful 18 hole courses at less than an hours drive from the Bouriane.
In many local restaurants you can enjoy the lovely French kitchen at very reasonable prices. Specialties of the area: Duck, foie gras and walnuts and of course the famous Cahors wines.
